hi my sweets! <3
i’ll refrain from calling you my chickens or any other cute nicknames that i would LOVE to label you as. trying to not embarrass myself here. you’re all so amazing and i’m lucky to have you. thank you to the new subscribers who have signed on in the last few weeks; seriously, i’m grateful for all of you. *hugs!!!*
a huge shoutout to these angels for recommending me on substack. i’m truly obsessed with your newsletters and i always look forward to reading your work each week. lunch on friday by angelina, keepsake by julianna, nicstalgia by nicole, and pastiche by lauren. and of course, thank you to my honey tyler (PI.FYI) <3 :)
it’s monday, april 15th, in brooklyn. i woke up a bit too warm this morning, overheating with the spring sun pouring in through my bedroom windows. i immediately smiled knowing that we’re one step closer to sweet summertime. by 12 pm, it was already almost 80 degrees out, so i put on my warm weather workout clothes, slathered on my favorite supergoop! unseen sunscreen spf 40 (babes please sponsor me, i’m obsessed with you beyond words xoxo) and was excited to get outside. supergoop recently released their unseen sunscreen body spf 40 and i’ve been itching to try it out. leave a comment below if you’ve used and let me know your thoughts! otherwise, tell me your favorite sunscreens for spring and summer, pretty please.
i could feel the seasonal depression leave my body with my first step outside. don’t get me wrong, i adore autumn and look forward to it every year. but as a (famously) double cancer, my soul yearns for the ocean. if i could move to california, i’d do it in a heartbeat. *don’t get any ideas, jen, don’t get any ideas!!!* today just felt different. the first taste of summer.
sephora just had their (twice a year?) sale! 15% off for VIB and 20% off for rouge. 30% (!!!) off their sephora collection, which is full of wonderful dupes for high end products. i’m the type of gal who reads pages upon pages of reviews for a specific product, on multiple websites. i like to stock up on a few of my most loved products and not buy new options unless i know it’s 10/10.
things i ordered during the sephora sale:
fine hair shampoo by ouai. this stuff is wildly good. my favorite shampoo since june of last year; i’m surprised i ever washed my hair without it. i have straight and fine hair, but a LOT of it, so it’s always felt very thick. it’s also the type of hair that looks greasy the day after shampooing. luckily, this cleans your hair without leaving a gross residue.
brow pop nano ultra-fine detailing + feathering eyebrow pencil by kosas in the color taupe. i’ve been in love with brow wiz ultra-slim eyebrow pencil by ABH in taupe as well, for probably 10+ years. clean beauty isn’t always “clean”, but i’ve been trying to switch my go-to makeup to options with more natural ingredients. this brow pencil by kosas is *almost* an exact color match to ABH.
mini dreambeam mineral sunscreen spf 40 by kosas in the original dreambeam shade. spf 40 forever and ever! i just tried this out for the first time last week. leaves you with such a pretty glow to wear alone or under makeup. lightweight for warm summer days too!
if you know me, you know my deep love for paloma wool. an unhealthy obsession, if we’re being honest. their new spring arrivals are everything. a few months ago, i found this gorgeous bottoni necklace, and unfortunately…i had to get it. the perfect addition to any summer outfit.
here’s my silly little wish list for the upcoming season.
things i want, but absolutely do not need, summer edition:
ponsa top
conxita top
morris belt in red
pina ballet flat in silver
donetta dress
so perfect for engagement photos, a bridal shower, or rehearsal dinner. keeping this on my list for our 2025 wedding. <3
leanne dress
saved my favorite dress for last. another beautiful piece by doen; can see this as a rehearsal dinner option (your “something blue”) or can be worn by a guest at a more casual/semi-formal wedding. i see this paired with simple drop earrings and a pearl, seashell clutch.
thank you so much, friends, for reading. i hope you enjoyed, and as always, i appreciate your support :)
sincerely,
your friend, jen
i look forward to reading YOUR work! and i'm obsessed with paloma wool lately...
